Not forgetting there is always a risk of some infection going on, perhaps the result of the male carrying something, I had one bitch, only one, of mine who was mated twice around days 11 and 13. Good matings. She came home and went back to a blood-coloured discharge. She wasn't by any means ill so I just kept an eye on her, thinking that mating has never taken. The pregnancy was uneventful and she had 9 beautiful healthy puppies. So good that we actually kept 3 of the 9, brought them back with us to the UK from Canada, and one became a UK Champion, the first and so far only Canadian-bred Basset bitch to take a UK title. Her sister was always in her shadow, but still did enough to be permamently qualified for Crufts. The male's bite went under whilst in quarantine but was used, with her full knowledge, by another breeder, twice, and from those matings, is back of a lot of hounds in the UK now.
I'd keep an eye on your bitch in case she has picked up an infection, and fingers crossed all will be well. And talk to your vet about antibiotics?
