Clicker training my 9.5 week old pup - has learned sit, down, wait, leave (when jumping on the big dogs)

Last night's scenario - me on floor, half watching telly, clicker and biscuits in my pocket.  Pup sits in front of me wagging her tail - no response from boring owner.  Pup runs to big dog, jumps on head, runs back to me, lies down and waits for click and treat (all in super quick time).  Repeat.

Don't you love them!

Indeed we do. I used to do agility with my old girl, who we lost last year. I was training her on weaves and I set some up in the garden. I used cubed cheese only for agility training. One summer day I was cutting up cheese in the kitchen and she charged out into the garden and whipped through the weave poles like lightening and then came in expecting cheese!

Oh bless! :)

I have tried teaching the clicker to my oldie rescue, but she really really doesn't "get it" at all. I guess she doesn't need it as she is very well behaved in general (although I suspect that was achieved in her past by 'traditional' methods, possibly even with a shock collar).

But on the occasions I have tried clickering her for basic commands, and even without the clicker, every time I say Sit! or Down! or Stand! - even on the many failed attempts to train her to give paw - I hear thuds and clunks in the background as my younger (clicker trained) dog does exactly what he hears me say.

Love it :-)

Makes me wonder just who is being trained :-D

My little lad (10 weeks) has started to train me regarding going out for a wee.  He assumes the position for milliseconds (click), licks his lips and comes running to me, tail wagging, waiting for his treat.  It is then I realise that absolutely no wee has been produced ...

I know they are clever but I am truly amazed at how quickly he has got the hang of the clicker, taken to basic training and got me & OH sussed.  It's hard to keep up with him, let alone try to be one step ahead.  Priceless!

Heehee!  Yes, I have a few 'fakers' here too :-P  Although Remy does it to get in from the rain faster - all these years and he still hasn't twigged that he's just going to stay out there until he actually goes so if he just went first time, he'd get in much faster!

I love clicker training this lot - it can be so entertaining :-)  I had a sesh the other night with them, started one-on-one then just did some stuff afterwards when they were all in the room.  The one-on-one was hilarious - I was trying to do treiball basics with some, Raine know the push cue but we haven't done it in a while and in her manic moment of trying to earn a click, she ran the gym ball across the room with her front paws :-D  I nearly wet myself, it was so funny!

And little Willow - who I've not done it with before - was just not getting the hang of nosing the ball, didn't do it once until after when I was just sat down on here, clicking Phoebe for any looks at the ball (she thinks it's evil so any treiball atm is done very low-pressure with her, outside of a 'formal' training sesh), she was starting to nose it happily when Willow just marched over and pushed it perfectly!

The best bit though was after that - I decided to work on getting my retrieve-crazies to drop their finds into a basket rather than me just piling everything up on my desk as usual.  So, basket on floor, I ended up with one dog bringing something and dropping it in; another dog taking it out again so they could drop it in; another dog nicking it off them so they could drop it in; then Willow realising what was going on, stealing everything they were bringing and running off with it!  I finally gave up when Linc was stood in the basket with his offering :-D

There should really be a 'like' button on here for all of these!
