The UKC is a legitimate registry, they do recognise some breeds that are new or in development.
They seem to run shows more sympathetic to owner handlers the emphasis in the American Kennel Club run shows in USA seems to be on the main ring and pro handlers.
The UKC shows often seem more like the FCI system re groupings, and like our KC they allow non pure breeds to take part in performance events (In AKC the dog has to be purebred).
Our KC recognise the AKC as the main registry, and as most people in USA that show in both venues will have their dogs dual registered it isn't' an issue.
Don't know what the KC's attitude is with regard to UKC recognised breeds trying to get on our Import register. The only breed I can think of is the Klee Kai, and I don't know if they applied for KC recognition or not. I remember seeing a well known kennel of another breed advertising the breed in one of the Annuals (Our Dogs or Dog World).
