When importing how much has it cost you
And who do you import your dogs with ie transport companys

I used Ladyhayes to import my pup from Slovakia earlier this year. I found them very helpful and very efficient.  Give them a call and ask them for a quote :)

Ours is coming in from Amsterdam to Heathrow on Monday and we are using Animals to Fly, they charged 415 Euro plus 19% Tax for 40kg in weight (Dog plus carrier)

I hate to tell you but when you pick up you will get a second charge by Heathrow (for collecting from plane, checking paperwork, and 0-48 hours kennelling) it was £500 for my friend last year, about the same as his flight from New York..

I'm with you on the Heathrow charges, they come as a real shock to most! We flew our girl to Holland from the US and used the ferry to Hull and twice now have travelled to Poland and back by car via the tunnel. Both trips worked out MUCH cheaper than using Heathrow.

I have just phoned the Animal reception centre at Heathrow to check and they said all fee's have already been paid to the shipping company and they won't require any extra payment (unless the dog fails on its passport and has to be kept for any length of time) so hopefully we won't. Obviously ill find out tomorrow and will now go prepared 'just incase'.

We were told the same but it wasn't so.  The bill showed the charges as 'AVI Import clearance' and was £495 in May 2011.

She had written and aksed what if any extra charges were to be made and the reply was

"The charges here in the UK are $650.00 - this is what Delta as us to collect, it covers all charges. We are the agent that deals with Delta's Pet arrivals."

The £495 was then on top, even though they were asked it the $650 was the full charges when he was picked up.  Thank God for overdraft facilites, as it was an unpleasant surprise.

Importing from Frankfurt to Ireland soon and looking at 1,200 euro.

How did it go, has she arrived safely?
- By ridgielover Date 03.07.12 13:25 UTC
Are you using an agent, Inka? That sounds very pricey
- By inka [ie] Date 03.07.12 14:55 UTC
It's going through this company, not sure if they'd be termed an agent as I'm new to all this. I think because he has to go as cargo it increases the costs.

I used a company called Ladyhaye. Don't know if they deal with flights to Ireland but I was more than happy with the service they provided flying my pup from Prague to Manchester - at a cost of £500
- By mcmanigan773 [gb] Date 04.07.12 08:17 UTC
Yes she is here! She seems to be settling in ok, very sweet dog, very loving. She is so much like a Mali! Ill try and post some pics on Facebook in the next few days.

We did have to pay charges at Heathrow but we shouldn't have done, the shipping com nay made a mistake on the paperwork putting her as a different catagory (from where she came from) so it cost £365 but we are claiming it back as we shouldn't have had to pay it.

Thanks Ridgielover, I've sent them an email but doubt they deal with Ireland :( My pup has to fly on an approved route - Frankfurt to Dublin - and i've only found two companies that do it, both sounds great but are of course very expensive!

Oh that's good news that she's arrived safely. :)
