Is there a behavourist called Colin Tennant. A friend has asked me if I knew some one of that name. He is supposed to own Gsds.Thanks.

Don't know anything about him but he has a website.

Yes he is fairly well known and has written many books. I would look at his website and see if his training style is what you would agree with - I understand he uses 'rank reduction' methods, and may be a little old-school for some.

Hi, yes there is. He's also part of CIDBT - have a search on the internet.
As MsTemeraire mentions, some of his methods would be considered outdated by some. Also part of CIDBT is Ross McCarthy, also has GSDs.
Only know this as have done some courses with them.

Founder of Guild of Dog Trainers, been around for a long time. He does seem to favour of rank reduction methods but then NILIF was 'invented' by Victoria Voith who is pretty well respected and name-checked by SR Lindsay no less.

I think what you need in a trainer or behaviourist is an open mind and a flexible toolbox and to take each case on its own merits. Anyone who is totally stuck on a one method suits all is the type to avoid, in my humble opinion.

I will pass it on to my friend.

Hi P,
I dont know him but I know someone who hired Colin Tenant a couple of years ago & they were well pleased with his service, reckoned he gave her dog & family a new & better life and ended the family friction as her partner was talking about getting rid of it, apparently he nows feel guilty & spoils it.

You need to be carefull though, there are a whole load of quacks out there & very expensive quacks at that, APBC has a bad reputation, check out the links below & pass them to your friend.

I have seen a behaviourist highly recommended on this website several times ( no names)| my poor dog was forced into situations where he was actually vomiting with fear
