I have a breed that usually require c sections , not the same as yours though . Although mine have always self whelped even with larger than average pups.
My bitch had her litter 2 weeks ago and I had everything prepared she went way over her time and I was a bit worried ( ok a lot worried ) but the vet still assured me that she was okay .
If you decide to let her self whelp have some KY jelly at hand I find this helps the pups slide out easier.
I have another breed also that normally whelp fine however one of them needed a c section a few years back and it was a lot of hard work , she didn't know the puppies were her's and it took her a long time to recover , I ended up hand rearing them , but it was enjoyable when I look back , just hard work at the time.
I know others who have had their bitches have sections and be fine , but in my experience I would rather mine try to self whelp.
Do you have a mentor within your breed who can help you ?
I hope everything goes smoothly , please keep us updated on what you decide and the outcome when the puppies arrive :)
