Are there any breeders in this country for this lovely breed? Can anyone help please.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 25.11.11 22:14 UTC
they look like a combination between Chi's (they are both short and longer coated) and Min Pins (re colours), possibly English Toy Terriers, they aren't recognised in the UK, don't know if there are any in Ireland.

Here are some pictures: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/moscowtoyterrierphotos.htm

My friend knows someone in Cornwall.  My friends family have two cross RTT's.

You do see them advertised now and then (for mega bucks -four figures) on a certain wellknown (or should that be infamous?) puppy website. I have also seen ads in Dog World at some point.

True Goldmali.  And the person that regularly advertises on "that" site, lists them under Chihuahuas, which supposedly gets them noticed.

(Actually look like a Chi with extremely bad type!)

The reason I've seen them is that they've also been listed under Papillon!

listed under Papillon!

ROFL!  And there was me thinking it was just under the one breed!  Nothing like improving your chances!

Wonder if it's related to the Prague Ratter?

http://www.akc.org/breeds/russian_toy/did_you_know.cfm It is a bona fide breed, I think.

There is such a breed, looks like a Chi x English TT, it is recognised by the FCI but I am sure it is very sparse here and I would be a bit wary about buying one in the UK far better to import from a country where there are good numbers and some animals of quality.

Nova,

Yes, I agree on exercising caution when certain crosses might produce a similar looking dog. I'd imagine there'll be a Russian organisation that can be contacted for information.

Quick search has not shown any clubs (a group of people inc. some who breed) in the UK although there may be a breeder who has taken it on themselves to start their own club, not ideal if you are wanting unbiased info.

Have PM'd you

They're rather pretty aren't they! Never heard of those before. :-)
- By Tigerprawn [gb] Date 26.11.11 13:23 UTC
They are FCI recognised breed, group 9, official name is Russian Toy (FCI ordered to drop the terrier word) and 20-28cm tall and 1-3kg in weight, have been bred in Russia for over a century. dont think there are any real russian toys in the UK so..
- By Goldmali Date 26.11.11 13:36 UTC
I've seen them at the world shows and do rather fancy them, I must admit -to me they look like a black and tan papillon with poor coat LOL.

There is a kennel in Ireland breeding & showing Russian Toys, called Hotratz. I've seen ads in show papers and online.  Know nothing about them as breeders or personally but they did have a litter for sale earlier in the year on the name stood out!
