No in my area we don't get paid for school holidays. We get paid for the number of hours we work per week at a pro rata rate of the weekly/monthly rate of pay for that position. That amount is then also offset at a pro rata of the total annual rate for the position but with the addition of however many days of paid annual leave you are entitled to ( as you are not allowed to take annual leave during term time the days are added on because you can never actually take them during the weeks when you are actually working).
These calculations then give a total figure for the year which is then divided into 12 payments so although you might not work at all in August (and of course you aren't paid for those weeks when you can't work as the schools aren't open) you do still receive a pay cheque for that month as your annual earnings are divided into 12 payments.
Somewhere I have the calculation as to how to work out how much you receive and it is really hard to calculate as there are so many variables but I can look it out if you need the info. There are some Local Authorities that do pay their school staff through the holidays but I think they are few and far between.
