Topic Other Boards / Foo / Storing marquees - ideas needed please
- By Muttsinbrum [gb] Date 24.08.11 10:05 UTC
Our local park charity has recently invested in some sizeable marquees (4m x 10m).

They were delivered in heavy duty cardboard boxes which, unfortunately, disintegrated on the first day of use in heavy rain.

Does anyone have any ideas on what we should buy to store them in their constituent parts ie:  a lot of six foot poles plus joints and awnings?

Bags have been suggested but none seem robust enough.

All ideas gratefully considered.

Thanks,

Mutty

Are these the white ones from B&Q? If so we had exactly the same problem. We just fold them up and store them on racks in the garage. It seems to have surficed so far.

How about some proper storage bags like these;

According to that link you'd need five pole bags and two tent bags, working out at £36.  You might be able to find similar on ebay cheaper.

For the poles, someone I know with a huge Marguee uses Drain pipes. Or sewage pipes to keep them in. You can cut to size. And get various diameters to suit the size of poles. And then the Cover I have no idea :D :D
Lea :) :)

Thanks to all but especially Lea - that's brilliant!

Will report back to committee (and claim idea as mine...)

When we buy they usually come in canvas bags - but we are scouts.
If they get wet they will get mouldy - try a ship chandlery for canvas - if thats too dear try Ikea type plastic or invest in some tarpaulins from B&Q, Jewsons.

But keep them dry or they will not survive. Another idea is part wrap in industrial cling film then put in a bag but dont cover them all or they may sweat - leave the ends open - should be ok.
