My picky princess is at it again! She's been fairly happily eating Wainwright puppy kibble mixed 50/50 with beef mince / grated cheese / tuna flakes for a few months, though she's still pretty lean. Then I suddenly realised she's 13 months old and ought to be moved onto adult food, so she had a few weeks with part puppy kibble, part JWB adult, which is what the other dogs eat, and she seemed fine. Then last week she finished up the puppy kibble so was just eating JWB adult 50/50 with the yummy stuff. And she won't touch it - won't even pick out the meat / cheese / tuna! I went to PAH yesterday and got some Wainwrights adult, reasoning that as she hadn't liked JWB puppy, she perhaps didn't like the adult either. But the kibble pieces are huge relative to the puppy kibble or the JWB kibble and she wouldn't touch that either.
In despair I got her to eat the next night's portion of beef mince by itself, and the others finished her supper off. She seemed interested in a piece of kibble that was left undiscovered and ate that, and I then got her to eat a reasonable amount of both JWB and Wainwrights kibble without anything else, just because the other two dogs were sitting there looking hopeful and she decided she'd better eat it before they did. I can't however feed her like this every night, I need some kibble she will condescend to eat without me having to go through such a ridiculous song & dance.
I know RC do small dog kibble but it's twice as many as Wainwrights, and I can't persuade my stupid computer to bring up any sensible search results to see if Wainwrights do a small kibble; there wasn't anything in PAH. Does anyone know? Or can someone suggest a reasonably priced small kibble that my neurotic little miss might like? She has also just come into season, but I don't know if that's got anything to do with suddenly refusing food as she's perfectly happy to eat treats etc! I'm considering going back to Bakers which was the only thing she was mildly interested in - not keen, but kind of interested. I know everyone says it's like eating McDonalds every day, but that's better than not eating at all! And she won't touch any of the wet foods or raw foods either, we've been through all of those.
