
If that was the case then the chances are if you had a husband who was well endowed you might need a caesarian! lol Doesn't work that way at all.
The number of puppies depends on the number of eggs released that are inseminated and assuming the dog is fertile. The tie is nothing to do with how many pups or if a caesarian will be needed at all.
If you have only one or two puppies developing then the bitch would not look as big, as if carrying a full litter, then you should scan the bitch as often a singleton puppy will not stimulate the bitch sufficiently for it to be born, so often an owner might decide to choose to have a caesarian or may end up having one as the bitch takes too long to deliver the puppy. If the bitch is left too long the puppy may be born dead or die shortly after. I learnt this when one bitch I had produced a singleton puppy both times she was mated, my vet advised me that it was probably a one off after the first time but when it happened a second time I chose to have the caesarian rather than risk losing the puppy.
