I'm resurrecting this thread as my beastie boy has just been put on these. Long story, but he's a jekkyl and hyde dog - a complete puppy and joy to own inside the house (he's now 3), but you never know quite what dog you have when you go out. We've been down the behaviourist route, and he's done his Bronze GC twice, but they never seem to want him back for silver.
I was reading one of the threads last week re Hypothyroidism (sp), and when i read the article which was linked, it was like reading about the hooligan. He turned at 7 months, which we put down to him feeling better in himself (we rescued him and he wasn't a pretty sight when we took him in at 5 months). So I booked him into the vets on monday, and he behaved impeccibly - they were expecting a snarling, lunging Rottie, not this happy thing that gave his paw for treats. Bloods have been taken, and we should get the results on Friday. They're going to test for everything - although not sure what everything is. I'm waffling, but getting to the point now, the vet sent us away with 2 weeks worth of Zyklene, and he had his 1st tab monday night, and another last night - it's like living with a different dog. Completely chilled out, he didn't bat an eyelid at the hoodies riding a motorbike over the park this morning at 5am.
Is this just a complete coincidence, or could it actually have an effect this quickly? We had previously tried DAP diffusers and collars but they never seemed to make any real difference. I'm trying not to get too excited, although it would be wonderful if just by giving him a tablet or 2(either this or for the thryoid), we can extend the personality of the inside dog, to the outside world.
