I use nosodes as a vaccine alternative and was wondering what other CD users use. Mine are also fed raw and wondered is there a pattern, do those of you who use conventional vaccines mostly feed dry/tinned and those nosode users prefer raw?

Same as you, nosodes and raw for all of my 4.
My only worry is if my boy has to go into kennels for any reason but my homeopath has just told me of kennels that accept nosodes :)

I don't believe in nosodes. Heard too many stories of animals getting ill anyway, and somebody once explained here why they cannot logically work -not sure if it was Jeangenie? In any event, I tried them once for my cats and they still got ill so will never risk that again. As for the food, all my dogs and cats are fed 50 % raw, 50 % canned. :)

Never tried Nosodes, I inoculate one in three years bar Lepto and they get that every year.We feed 100% raw

The whole principle of homoeopathy is to 'treat like with like'; by that reasoning you cannot treat an animal for something it hasn't got! Several homeopathic vets state that nosodes should not be used to prevent infection, but rather to treat an animal when it's contracted it.

Must have been half asleep yesterday -my TOYDOGS and cats are fed 50 % raw and 50 % canned, my BIG dogs are over 50 % raw, the rest dry.

That was it -thanks JG.

I have always been of the opinion (perhaps unfairly) that those who do not vaccinate rely for their protection on those who do. Not that I would expect or encourage that all infections are vaccinated against every year, you vet will advise on what is required. Neither can I see the connection between thinking you do not need to vaccinate and what you feed unless you have been persuaded into thinking that the best you can do for your dogs is use Nosodes and feed raw, then perhaps you would feel they were in some way linked which of course they are not.

I feed raw (most of the time) and have never used nosodes.. Always vaccinate.. although I do (or did in the past) titre test.. now I booster 2.5 to 3 years, and annually for Lepto..

Totally agree. I feed raw.

After my last dog died from his booster aged 3 I was desperate to keep my next dog/dogs safe and although not against vaccinations to protect animals and people I believe that we can and do quite often over vaccinate.

So when I had my next puppy (who is now 4yrs 3mnths) I contacted a specialist at Glasgow uni to ask the best way to protect my dog and he recommended the following:

1)  only one shot of parvo/distemper is necessary as soon after 12 weeks as possible (apparently if given any earlier then it cancels out the maternal antibodies and this is the reason two shots are usually given).

2)  to wait until 2 weeks after and have the first shot for lepto - and 2 weeks after that to have the 2nd shot for lepto.

He then advised to have a titre test when boosters are due at 12 months of age and then yearly after that - but his opinion was that if the dog has immunity at the time of the first booster then that immunity would remain maybe 7 years and over.

I have found that if my dogs need to go into kennels then some kennels will take the certificate with the titre reading showing immunity (as they do for the rabies vaccine) and some will also take vaccine certificate signed by the vet who has administered the nosodes.  So no need to pump harmful chemicals into our dogs year on year - weakening their immune systems.

By the way, I do feed raw but unlike Nova, I never thought the two were connected?
Also, I'm not sure the people who don't vaccinate don't because they rely on people that do,  I think they probably don't bother because of ignorance or lack of care.

I also think the way that nosodes work is very similar to the way a conventional vaccine works - and my homeopathic vet (who also practices conventionally) advised me that nosodes should be given as a preventative.

Err, no nor do I, perhaps my post was not good English but I did not mean to give the impression that I thought there was any connection what so ever.
