My last 2 girls wanted to whelp on the sofa. More comfortable for me than the one that wanted to do it underneath the radiator!
I just covered the thing deeply with bath towels. As she is viable for a satisfactory whelping, just let her go into labour where she chooses. Once she has had them she will watch you move pups to the whelping box, and happily move!
Good Luck. :-)
sounds like we both are :) good look ,shes gone to sleep now tho ,so maybe not to night x
thanks jean i will need all my towels lol shes a big girl :) o well at least i can go and get new ones after :) x

Any news this morning
no news yet ,shes acting strange today she not get off the sofa ,alot of panting though the night ,but shes laying curled up and not out stright, just have to see what the brings with her x

Could be tonight then. Have only ever had 1 bitch whelp during the day, which she did twice.
same here ,1 of my girls had 2 litters and both in the day...my other girl had a litter she started at 9.30am and was done for lunch ,that was great :)

Hope all goes well with your girls.
My girl had her pups late Thursday early hours Friday. She doesn't do digging, panting or any thing that gives any sign other than she went to her bed in the day and stayed there. She squeezed her eyes shut for a few seconds and gave a little push and there was pup 1 with pup 2 on it's tail. She then had a sleep for 2 hours and then the same again for pup 3 and 4. No mess no fuss and I was back in bed and sleeping for 3am.
Bliss :-)

Certainly much easier during the day. But the majority of mine wait until night, usually having the first about midnight then finishing early morning.
Had one bitch with her first litter gave no signs at all, eating as normal, no panting, no wanting to go in then out, just walked across the kitchen and promptly dropped the first pup on the floor, by the time I had got there the second had been born, I was behind with each pup being born. Had a litter of 10 all survived.
thats lovely :) ive got a feeling my girl will be like this but it will be on the sofa not her whelping box :-0 shes here now next to me and will not move off for nothing shes even eat her food there ,hubby had to hold her dish for her :)
wow thats my worry dogsdinner ,i worry about 1st litters more then the rest ,but it works out great in the end for most of us x
well shes been out and her poo is very runny so im now hopeing we have pups over the next 24/48h :) shes not panting but her breathing as changed ,and carnt get her off the sofa LOL

Plenty of coffee needed then - for you, not your girl :) You can spend the time thinking of Reg names for the soon to be new arrivals.
One of mine wanted to whelp underneath my daughters bed

We had to keep her away, obviously, so she had them on the landing at the top of the stairs next to the bedroom door ;-) Not as bad as it sounds, actually. The landing led to the bedroom and the floored attic (which we didn't go into very often) so she was actually quite quiet up there.
ive got plenty of tea LOL dont drink coffee, shes been out again to empty her self ...come on puppies .....ive thought about nothing els LOL ,id even forgot to add my affix to our dogs papers :-O only did it yesterday ,but kc said it would be sorted before i reg the pups, phew!!
lindylou ,they know were they want them dont they LOL X
Awww, me jealous. I now don't know whether we've got a 7 week wait or a 9 week wait!!! It got complicated. Good luck.
thanks ,dont think its going to be to long ,she keeps going out for a poo but nothing comeing out so must be coming down now x

Before midnight then?
i hope so :)...ive said all along she will have them on the 1st of may ,now i hope im right LOL x

Good luck white lilly hope everything go's well for you your girl and her babies.

This is the time I feel really sorry for them, and wish I could do more.
But all we can do is have patience, and be there for them.
