It has been a bit of a bone of contention. Breed specialist never have looked at pug teeth, as you pretty much meet the breed standard as long as they are not visible when mouth closed. Hoever since the whoel "fit for function drive" quite a few all rounders are insisting on looking in themouths, which is a bit difficult becasue as a breed pugs don't look on this favourably! I teach all my pups to be happy wiht the mouth being examined, after all you want to clean the teeth, dont you? But somewhere at about 6 montsh the majority of they catch on to the idea that the mouth stays clamped shut. Over the years at open shows I have had to hang on to a few indignant wrestling pugs as judges not in the know try to examine the teeth. Of my whole bunch there is only 1 who will happpily have his mouth examined.
So, to try and be concises about all that, best to be prepared for judges to want to look now, but also be prepared that the pug may not go along with it!
