I have had a couple of mine done recently. £260 or thereabouts and I travel out of Bristol to Newbury as its cheaper for me. My local vet quoted £350 about 3 or 4 years ago.

Had my girl hip and elbow x-rayed the other day, paid £138 something pence. That was using sedation at a Vets near Whitchurch where I always go for the hips.
thats a very good price alison for both to be done where is whitchurch ?

Just over a year ago I paid £150 (under GA) at my vets + BVA costs on top of that.

£115 for just hips including BVA fee...............
I have just rung our vets we have a puppy who is 12 months in March so will get her done then!
They have quoted £76.38 to them and the £45 to the BVA (has just gone up!!)
so £121.38 I didn't think that was too bad!!

I have been quoted just over £119 in Hereford. My won Vet charged me £170 in Feb 2005!
The BVA is only £40 and I had one of mine done on Tuesday!
ETA - the prices are on the kc website

If only ti were just the BVA charge, ti si the Vets charges for GA/Sedation and the X-rays that vary so much.

Whitchurch is in Shropshire.
is it a lady that does it i carnt remember her name? alot of breeders in my breed use her ,does she get you to help hold the dogs ?

Shame it isn't Whitchurch near Bristol, LOL
No that's Southampton. Marilyn :)

Cost me £150 just for Calida's hips to be done last year and Manchester used to be one of the cheapest places for vets fees, doesn't look as though it is anymore, maybe I was just paying for his new surgery.

If I could get them done by a knowledgeable vet in Bristol for £150 I would be happy, as it is I £140 mile round trip to get them done for £120.
my last one was £230 but with my breed they use more GA but thats for hips and elbows inc BVA fee

£225 for hips and elbs and BVA fee under sedation not GA
where do u go tanya ? thats cheaper than ive been quoted :) i dont mind an hours drive

Those aren't bad for both hisp and elbows

We paid £180(including BVA charge) for 50kg dog under sedation, hips and elbows.
We had to travel for few hours but in Cambridge(where we live) we were quoted £370 for the same...
Just to add we went to see Marilyn too :)

I would say don't go on price as a guide, go on reputation ;-)
microchipping or tatoo ( Sorry ) started the 1st Jan 2010 as far as i understand it , when i booked my dogs in we were told that it is now required to stop ringers being used.

Hip Xrays :-)
Here is what it states on the form.
From 1st Jan 2010 it is compusory that your dog is microchipped or tattoed to be able to be assessed by the BVA. Please have your microchips checked before making the journey to us, if we cannot find the chip we cannot xray your dog.

i was told when my boy had his done in oct that it was necessary for tattoo or microchip? by the by for us anyway as he already had one
> when did that start ? (microchipping or tatto)
1st of January 2010

I had my boys hips done under sedation and it cost me £147 including BVA. I could have got it done for £135 at another vet nearer but to be honest i wouldnt take a rat to them
thankyou brainless ,i will get her done at the same time ....she is the only 1 i havnt had done.

We use a great vet in Malpas Cheshire called Ewan Bryson, he sedates rather than GA, i cant remember cost its a while since we have been, we dont have the BVA as we show the dogs in Europe so have to get the German A Stamp on them, we have a female we need to get hip/elbow scored now just havent had the time lately. good luck with your results White Lilly.
thankyou annastasia ..she goes tomorrow ...im excited and worried at the same time lol ...my boy goes in 2 months time x

I know it is a worry, im sure she will be fine with her scores. x

Think if my young girl passes her eye test next month I'll have her hips done in Malpas. Believe that they do eye testing there also?

Im not sure about the eye tests, its not a problem in our breed, good luck with the eye tests x
