Can it be used inside the bitch to help things along if needed?

yep its perfectly safe but i prefer this: http://www.hyperdrug.co.uk/Obstetric-Gel-500ml/productinfo/OBS9006362/... its a lot more slippery

Another quick question at what stage is this used? Or only if needed?
- By Tanya1989 [ir] Date 08.12.09 23:12 UTC
as and when needed.... you cannot "overdose" on it.... will do no harm, just may leave your floor a bit slippery if she gets out whelping box lol

I have always got the hyperdrug one in stock.  But I only use it when a pup is stuck.  Sometimes, with feet first pups, and the head still inside, it helps them out easier with the next contraction.

Picked a tube of KY up in the pound shop, was 4.00 in boots i think, it pays to look in there first :-)

The proper obstetric gel is much slidier.  Pups come out more easily.  And it's a huge bottle for £3, so it's no dearer than your pound shop buy.

It's £3 then £4.30 postage......so not that cheap really

i think if you are getting alot of stuff at the same time then it works out good , £4.30 is a lot of money for postage on 1 thing !!

Obstetric Gel is 550ml    KY is 50ml, even with postage Obstetric Gel is cheaper.
