I know this discussion has come up many times about what to do who to chose and is it worth it.
Just thought I would like to give my positive experience in this area. I have been having some problems with my gsd behaviour around other dogs and have sought advice from one or two different  people and a few different training classes over 2 years now. Most recently I have found that my APDT group trainer has given excellent advice and I have now topped that up with more one-one work with a lady who is a member of APBC .
In this consultation she spent about 3 hours with me and my dog including a walk with us of about half an hour to seehis behaviour first hand. I was left with a summary of suggestions and then received a full report a week later which is very detailed and straight forward and also practical for our lifestyle. She offers free email or phone back up  as often as I need it.I am am now going to send her a video of us out on a walk for her to get further ideas about us.
I hope this is of use to anyone considering this route  as I know I have spent a lot of money looking around for the right person and soloution.
The bottom line of course is the difficulties may not go away completeley and also how much time I can put into following the plan with effect the results but I am ging to try.. Shame my dog cant read the plan too LOL

It's good to read of this and to hear of good experiences, you certainly chose good organisations to help.
Of course individuals sometimes vary with skills and knowledge, even within organisations, but it is great to hear you were given so much help and
backup advice.
How's it going?

Not too bad thank you had a couple of backward steps but mainly due to human misjudgement ie me or my dog walker friend thinking he was more relaxed and ready for the next step than he is. At least I now feel I know what I am dealing with and even if we dont always get it right at least I have stratergies. He is a lovely dog and so good at home and with people  and does have a good half a dozen doggy friends he is comfortable playing with I will never know really why dogs make him anxious and then he has to go ott in his reponse  but I will just keep at it and hopefully things will imorove even more with the extra work and his age.

Well I am sure it helps to know you are doing the very best for him that you can, and also that perhaps you understand him more behaviour wise? as dog behaviour can be quite baffling at times can't it! Lots of luck with the ongoing training and further steps!

Best wishes
