LOL nothing really it's the phonetic spelling, I might have seen it somewhere of course & Luca was my favourite character in ER !

My ex-husband has two German Shepherds called George and Mildred... when they got their 3rd dog I wanted them to call it Roper! but they chose Arthur instead!

My 13 year old Labrador is Vanessa :)
I name all my rats after people I know - I have or have had, Bernard, Graham, Tom (RIP), Martin (RIP), Joseph, Neil, Alan (RIP), Reuben, Oliver, Derek, Jean, Phillippe, Bill, Ted, Andrew, Dale (RIP), Carlo, Clive, Gary, Duncan ........... and a few more :)

Yes Luca ! LOL perhaps that was why my husbands relatives used ou spelling although the family story is that in europe it is a common way of spelling things. sorry guys didn't mean to hijack the thread
none of mine have human names apart from Lennon, but some of my friends dogs are, Frank, Erik, Hector, Bruce, and Finley. I think i would like a Brian!!!!
mel.x
> was my Affie X's name BrĂ¢n
that is a human name though! (and one i rather fancy!) just an unusual one, as are most of the names mentioned (maybe not pumpkin! :))
our lot have been Cassandra, Chadwick, Corrie- all people names. Odin wasn't, and neither are Kismet and Keeper but Horatio is :)
i like unusual names for my dogs- names i really like but couldn't call a kid cause they'd get mocked lol (not that i'm having any)

I'm not all that keen on human names for dogs, know a lady with dogs called Mary, Edward and Elizabeth and I personally find the last two too long for a dog name.
I like them short and easy to yell in the park, lol. Our BC/SBT cross is called Luke and my CWC is Maggie (Mags).
Although saying all that, I know a bloke with a lovely boy Rottie called Mikey and it definitely suits him.

Had Harvey and got George now. Boris, Puschka and am fairly determined to call next TM Mildred so I will at last have George and Mildred!
I love dogs having human names. I have Freddie and would one day like a bobby so i have Fred 'n' Bob :-)
I especially like 'funny' names like Colin, Norman etc, just think it would be hilarious to call that out to your dog in the middle of the park :-)

I think Dave is a great name for a dog! Our first was a Molly and my present is Meg (OH usually calls her Megan just to be different) Our friend Megan was rather put out that we had called our dog Meg! I was even more put out when my new grandson was called Ruben and I went to class that week and there was a dog Ruben! Oh we have a Vernon too in class which is different. Real names are better than some - our second dog was called Squasher (kennel name had to be an S and he was an orange belton!) Dave is much nicer I think now.

Dogs I have known owned and walked with over the years with human names
Winston... scruffy black & tan mongrel.
Sebastian-Seb for short... yellow lab.
My Dads doberman X- Kelly... he wanted to call her April but he's cat was called Ariel ( after his first motorbike!) I said it would cause confusion so Kelly she became. His second dog is Becky.
Sisters dog Weimaraner was a Cleo now number 2 is a Daisy named before as a rescue.
My first dog was a Kai which I thought was a boys name so ended up calling her... KylieMinogue (all one word!)
I wanted to call my EBT Sidney but OH called him Snoop so cat became Sidney.
My friends boxer Rodney he is a right plonker too lol
Rottweiler called Eve.
One of snoops pups is called Dave. Know a EBT & Staff called Reg.
I remember in the 70's calling boy dogs Jason or Toby really popular names but don't hear them now. Dave is the new in vogue name.

two of my puppies are called Dennis and Winnie by thier owners
two others are called Dylan and Hugo
my girls are called Ellie Beth and Libby

One of my dogs was called Trefor ('Trevor' spelt the correct way as it is a welsh name), and when we went to shows we always ended up benched next to man in our breed called Trefor! So if my dog was messing about on the bench as happened once or twice I yelled with out thinking Pack it in Trefor! or once I yelled Trefor do not do that to my catalogue..... Poor Trefor (the human one) said to me I wish you had not called your dog Trefor every time you talk to him I think you are talking to me and if you yell at him I jump a foot in the air each time!...... I wonder if that was a guilty conscience making him jump??? lol

But we've never had a Dave though.

Tia and Tara are human - we get loads of them at school these days. And Jazz can be short for Jasmine so that's quite human too :-)

>> But we've never had a Dave though
You can have mine!!! Also answers to David and Monkey!
The girlies are Dolly and Daisy.
I met a gorgeous Rottie pup on Friday called Bettie. She was sat patiently outside a shop with the owners son and I had to go over for cuddles. The young man was ever so embarrased when I asked her name - he was very quick to point out that his mum had named her. He laughed when I told him I had a Dave, not so impressed with Dolly or Daisy though.

By GSPMUM

2 GSP's here, Bronwyn (never shortened to Bronnie, always the full name) and Ellis. Left my cat with my ex, her name was Megan, and previous cats, George, Chloe & Max.

A Papillon called "DAVE" won the toy group at Border Union on Sunday.
>his previous owners called him digweed any surgestions for names hes a staffie i really dont like digweed
As long as his previous owners weren't unkind to him, giving him bad associations with his name, call him Digger to avoid confusing him too much.
Neil! Ha ha!
I used to groom an Airedale called Simon and an old lab called Florence!
Hubby wanted to call our son (if we had one) Vinnie or Vincent, thankfully we had a girl so I said a dog pup in my next litter can be Vinnie to apease him!
