
Well done him! He did the right thing by not trying to move it. An injured and frightened deer can cause nasty injuries to people - their hooves are like razors.
Also worth mentioning that this is the time of year when people sometimes come across 'abandoned' fawns while out walking, and try to help by taking them to a vet, which is of course totally the wrong thing to do. The fawn has been purposely left there by its mother, who will come back to feed it at intervals - kidnapping her baby will cause both of them severe distress and can even lead to the death of the fawn, because humans aren't nearly as good at raising them as their own mothers.
