We would like to build our own whelping box and was wondering if anybody had a good plan that we could use to build one? We have thought about a cardboard one but realistically thing that a homemade one would be easier and able to be used again. Can anyone help?

The Book Of The Bitch  Has a sort of plan ie it tells you  dimensions etc  and has a pic of box .
Dont know if this would help but worth a look

Having made whelping boxes in the past (well - OH not me :) ) I won't bother again - wood is expensive and not terribly hygienic unless treated and that's time consuming and smelly. Next time I'm going to buy a Linkabord box - my friend used one with her Boerboel litter and it lasted very well. Much easier to keep clean.

Depends what breed you have but I use a big indoor rabbit box for whelp and 2 weeks! Easy to clean, plastic, can be disinfected, no seepage onto floor, has a cover for night/warmth

I made my own whelping box & used that white conti board so it can be easily wiped/washed out as & when is necessary. Works well for me ;)
