Nothing wrong with British Veal :-) The calves have a short life but a comfortable one. For those concerned about animal welfare you're far better buying British veal than continental pork.
As Tigger2 says the buying of British veal is to be encouraged. I suspect you will have to order it through your butcher but no harm in asking at your local Hypermarket.........often! :-) The main thing about cooking veal is it is very tender so does not need much cooking. Probably the best known method is coated in crumbs, Veal Schnitzel. Lots of recipes on the net.
Just to mention to Ganitecitygirl, Asda have some venison steaks on promotion at the mo. 2 packs of 2 steaks for £8.00, which works out at £2.00 each. Had it yesterday and was lovely.
