Does anyone know where I can find out what shows etc are doing eye testing ? I attempted to go to the CLA gamefair today with the intention of getting Alfs eyes tested whilst there but after sitting in non moving traffic for 2 hours without even a sniff of getting near romsey we gave up and turned around  I know I can get them done in October at our club show but I was hoping to get them done before then.  He is hereditary PRA clear (which I think is ok in our breed) but as his co-owner is an accredited breeder he needs an eye test certificate (and to be fair I think its the responsible thing to do *insert good two shoes smiley here* :p )

Any suggestions much appreciated, if not I might attempt the CLA gamefair again on Sunday

Is there not a panellist or part-time clinic near you?:

Both the dog papers publish details every week of eye testing sessions at shows.

If you have a certificate to prove he is DNA tested clear then he doesn't need repeat eye tests.

he isnt DNA tested, just that there is nothing in his lines.  I will check out that link thanks.  How much roughly does it cost ? because I know at the shows you can get it cheaper than the clinics.

the list of charges is on the BVA site. http://www.bva.co.uk/public/chs/eye_scheme.asp It is £33.70 per dog if only having one dog tested, inclusive of VAT.

No-one can say thye don't ahve something in their lines umless they have had all their dogs DNA tested, and sadly for most of us there are no tests so the best we can say is our dog at time of eye test is not affected.

Yes Claire, Alf isn't DNA tested, but he's hereditarily clear. :)So both of his parents must have been DNA tested clear, yes? Therefor the chances of Alf being either carrier or affected are near enough nil, or 50 gazzillion to 1. :DCopies of the sire and dams certificates would suffice surely. The KC surely trusts it's own database with regard to Alf's parentage/registration. So why the ''need'' for you to go to the lengths of having him tested, you know he's going to be unaffected, so it's a waste of time and money, and doesn't provide any new information for the records. Makes no sense to me I'm afraid.
