From an advert, how reassuring that they're being responsible and limiting to three (giant breed):

A litter of xxxx due very soon available for collection early august or after. Price of puppies will be £500 for one and £850 for two, 3rd puppies priced at £250 with no more than 3 in any one sale.

Sad thing is, someone will probably be daft enough.

Blimey suprised they didn't do a BOGOF promotion as well

There will be some mug though that buys them and guess then some rescue will pick up the pieces :(

I sometimes think the sort of people who buy from these breeders deserve each other but of course the dogs don't deserve it :(

i feel sorry for the dogs.

3 giant breed pups together would not work, even for the most experienced owner:mad:

the breeder want shooting for this ad!!!

There is usually a 'complaints' dept for ads, maybe a chat there about responsible advertising, dog ownership, and their responsibilities regarding their adverising standards? Also, a call to the tax man, who may well be interested....RSPCA may be interested also? Don't most advertising places for animals give a little block notice about reporting things like this?

  Poor puppies...I imagine the people who take on this "special offer" won't have done much research if any and it all falls back on the dogs :-(
The breeder obviously doesn't care as long as he/she gets the money and rid of the dogs either.
It's disgraceful

Also it might encourage some people to take up the 'offer' and resell.the other two pups. :(
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 21.06.06 10:59 UTC
Very good point, Barbara, didn't think of that.

Advert implies that the pups weren't even born yet, so they haven't even got the excuse of getting a bit panicky.

I tell ya what! I would be on the phone giving that 'breeder' a piece of my mind. They cant be lulled into thinking people will accept adverts such as theirs and not do anything about it.

The adds that bug me the most are the give away to good homes "because going OS" or the classic "moving". I wouldnt be "moving" anyplace that i couldnt bring my dogs to!

Sadly some people have no choice, such as older people moving into sheltered housing or nursing homes, but I do understand where your coming from.

I had a marriage break up and was pregnant, but would not have given my dog up.

I was once offered 2 Labs for the price of one so it does happen!! Needless to say i refused. Unfortunately a lot of people think it is lovely to get 2 puppies together then reality hits and one or both are rehomed.

There are personal situations when a dog genuinely needs rehoming - I was very ill a couple of years ago and had to rehome my dog. I can tell you it was the hardest thing I did and genuinely broke my heart but it was a case of doing the best for my dog.

Very true brainless, some are genuine and it must be heartbreaking. What gets me is the amount of dogs needing good homes for these sort of reasons, together with allergies (yes, some genuine) it just seems to be the easy way of doing it when the owner has got fed up. I would far rather someone said 'for genuine reasons' and gave the real reason, rather than so many giving the old 'moving home, going over seas, allergy, etc. However, the way I look at it is, they are at least trying to find a new home, rather than just dumping the dog. Providing the new home is ok .... My view is that it would be better to rehome with the help of the breeder or breed rescue, or if not pedigree one of the dogs homes that are reputable.
