Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / How much food?

Hi
My dog Pippa eats adult Wafcol Salmon and Potatoe which she enjoys.  I changed her to this because of skin and tummy problem, mainly loose poos.

As she's ten months old I change her to adult as many posts suggested doing this at this age.  She really does like this food but shes always looking for more and when I weighed her at the vets today shes lost approx 200grms.
She has two meals a day, 75grms each meal and as she cant have treats in her kong she sometimes has 50grms extra but not every day. So I decided to give her couple spoonful of rice with her food, this was last Friday evening and Saturday morning but then her poos went sloppy so I stopped.

When I spoke to vet assistant today, she said to increase her food to maxium on packet, which is 200grms daily.  But I worried this will make her poos worse, plus she's started to scratch again but this is her anal glands !! (she had them emptied 14th Oct) Assistance mentioned have her glands removed but Im against this.
Sorry post so long!!!
Thanks Noel

I would just say if your dog looks thin give her more food. If she looks fat give her less. The feeding guide on the pack is just that, a guide. Every dog is an individual and requires a feeding regime to suit them.

Have to agree with Pedlee on this one - I go by my dogs, not by the packet.  If it takes pressure to feel the ribs I put them on a diet - cut their kibble down, as I am with my dobe at the moment.  If the ribs are visible, I up the food.  To me the perfect weight is like my rott X - her ribs are easily felt but not visible.  The vet also says she is in perfect weight and health.  It's a personal thing, really, and depends on the individual dog, as pedlee says - my rottX gets 4 cups a day whereas my dobe gets 3, and he weighs (when in proper weight, of course) about 2.5kg more than her.
