Hi Roni

RR is useful but not IME really good enough on it's own for something like fireworks :(  (also should be dripped onto nose leather rather than down the throat)  I prefer valerian compund to the tablets - not so easy to administer due to the strong taste/smell but seems to have a more obvious result.  Gilsemium (sp) is often suggested for use with RR too - should be able to get both these additions from Dorwest or Canine Natural Cures.

From several reports by friends, it seems a DAP diffuser comes highly recommended for all round calming effect on a distressed dog.  I certainly intend to invest in one pre Guy Fawkes but I know several people who use them on a fairly regular basis for distressed dogs following accidents/trauma and for help during thundery spells.  Regards, Teri :)

Hi Staryeyes i dont know how old the dog is but i bought this great training package off amazon by Gwen Bailey.  It has a tape with fire works on, people shooting guns, kids in school grounds and buses stopping basically any loud noises.  It's done my dogs wonders i just play it while they're eating their breakfast, dinner or tea and they seem used to it now.  My westies get really stressed out you see on bonfire night so it's doing them wonders all though the male still gets abit stressed but he's getting there.  It's really for my bully pup but the others listen to as they have no choice as they all eat at the same time.  I'd recommend that tape though to anyone who has litters or pups it's great for them.

Warm regards SuSan

I used Rescue Remedy on my mongrel who was terrified of fireworks and thunder/lightning.  It was great for her, but it has no effect on my young Flatcoat who was spooked as a youngster by a firework.  Valarian compound from Dorwest suited him much better. Thankfully at almost 3, he seems to have grown out of his fear.

What worked for one, didn't work for the other, but both methods well worth a try IMO.

There is a remedy you can get from the doreen paige range and that is excellent but we have found serene um tablets combined with scullcap and valarium drops are the best.
