I have a seven month old  border terrier dog he is now standing at 15 inches high to the shoulder and wieghing 9kg he is everything a border should look like but is he too big for showing .the breeder says he is just from a big strain but as I bought him to show would I have any come back on the breeder, if his size excludes him from being shown if you can advise please e-mail me at smokie999@aol.com

Basically his size will not exclude him from being shown at UK shows as there is no disqualifying fault, but depending how much oversize he is and how good the rest of him is will depend on how heavily this fault will be penalised.

I don't see how you could come back at the breeder when buying a puppy to show, as the most anyone can say about a pup is that it shows promise, a lot can happen and go wrong on the wqay to maturity.  A lot of ones swans turn into Geese.  I live with at least two who dind't turn out as well as hoped and a third who didn't fulfill quite a lot of early promise (bred two of them myself), you just wait and hope the next one does better :D  They are still just as good companions the 345 days we don't go to shows!!!

Thats very heavy for an adult Border.  Borders are judged more on weight than height, I reckon about 16lbs is a normal male weight, many are a bit more, some are a bit less.  Bigger made dogs will be heavier.  Buying a pup is a gamble, there is no way you can guarantee what it will turn out like, so really your breeder is not at fault, however if they said "a bigger strain" then maybe you should of pointed out you were interested in showing, if you did, and was not aware of the size and weight of the breed then again you cant blame the breeder.  You must be able to "span" a Border behind the shoulders, if you cant they are too big.
