Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Feeding Bulldog puppy

Hi, we just collected our 7 weeks Bulldog puppy who is currently being fed on Pettox chicken roll (was weaned on to this). We obviously want to gradually change his diet to something better, but don't want to pump too much protein in to him. Can anyone recommend a good tried and tested bulldog diet for a growing pup please? Autarky has been mentioned, but would the puppy food be too high in Protein. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you!

People worried a lot about protein levels being too high for puppies, but the latest research shows that pups just excrete any protein they don't need and it doesn't do them any harm.

I am not sure there is a breed specific one for Bulldogs, (although no doubt it will soon arrive along with the ones especially for labradors, yorkshire terriers and GSDs! etc)

Have you thought about Naturediet or Burns?

There is already one by Canin for bulldogs but it is only for adults.

I would change his food asap those rolls are rubbish.(IMO)
Water would be freely available at all times.

How you feed him will depend on what you wish to do.
There are several options
1st is a tinned diet, this would be a good puppy food fed several times a day.
2nd is a dried food again itwould be a puppy food I would say you would be better wetting it slightly.
3rd is a natural diet which I personally raise my rotties and bulldogs on.

Email me direct and I will give you a few bulldog forums to join.

I agree as regards to the rolls, hence why we want to find him a better quality diet asap. Royal Canin do a Bulldog food but it's for 12 month + dogs only. Have been doing some looking but the choice is quite great.

I have emailed you privately Carolyn, any help would be great!

Thank you.
