My dog is now one year old. When he was about 9 months he started to want to chase cyclists, joggers, bids and anything that moved. I would put him on the lead when I saw any of these approaching and we would continue by and if he went to move towards I would flick his lead and say no. We now have a frisbee which he is more interested in than anything else. Yesterday he saw cyclists, boys playing with a football and joggers and he had no interest at all. When we are walking I also put his lead on him for a few minutes here and there, then I take it off again. Yesterday we reached the gate where I had parked my car and I called him to come, he looked at me and had a real glint in his eyes and ran off into some trees and then came straight back, as he approached me he saw some people on bikes he ears went back and he just ran like the wind - I called "No" and "Come", but he continued he stopped about 15 feet from the people and ran in a big circle and came straight back to me. I did start walking in the opposite direction (as I had been told before), but I didn't want the people on the bikes to think I was taking no notice of my dog. I put him on the lead and he knew by my voice that I was angry. Also I apologised to the people, but they were fine (luckily). Up to that point he had been a good boy and we had had an enjoyable walk.
