Any suggestions please. Have just put the key in the lock of my car to unlock it and the key just goes round and round. Even worse, I can't get the key out of the lock. I realise that the lock is knackered but any ideas how I can get the key out?? Got a call in to the AA but they are quoting 2-3 hours. Anybody help? Sam.

Use your spare to get into the passenger side and then drive to a garage and see if they can sort you out !

kick it and hit it - that usually works when all else fails :D :D

"Kick it and Hit it"  Oh I say, thats a bit drastic.
How about trying the genteel approach. ---  Tip the car on it side, (with door with key in it towards the ground), gently rock the car back and forth, whilst patting the passenger door at the same time.  the odd kind word may encourage the key to fall out by itself.

If this dose'nt work  ---  Kick it and Hit it.

Inspirational Lucy, that's the kind of thing I'd normally remember 2 days later, having missed an urgent appointment. :D

I'd never think of doing that, how stupid, when it is the most obvious thing! :D

When our rover estate lock went wrong on the drivers side,a kind gentleman offered to climb in through the rear door, the other doors didn't actually have locks due to the central locking system and how rovers are made on some models
Unfortunately he set off the interior alarm sensors by climbing through the rear and because it was all tied into the locking system and key on the drivers side, not only was I unable to drive the car off because the immobiliser kicked in,but I was now sitting in a car with alarm sounding off every few minutes, luckily the aa arrived sooner than anticipated,he did something with the lock, using a very important tool,A SCREWDRIVER! and said 'there you go madam,it will get you home, but don't stop off on the way home and get the lock and security system sorted by a garage a.s.a.p.'
Not cheap I can tell you! but funny now looking back on it!

I never use my keys for locking or unlocking the doors I use the remote I once had a key break in my first minis door-brother opened the paasenger door with his mini's key & we put a different lock in the door from a scrap yard-couldn't do that with this car

My breakdown people have to get to me within an hour Mind you touch wood never needed them for 6 years

Quick update. No spare key as the car is actually my grandfathers, I'm just running it occasionally while hes in hospital. Had to wait for the AA in the end. Very patronising little man who'd 'have it sorted in a jiff, love'!! Took him an hour, in the rain, he had to take the door apart!! Now cant use drivers door lock, only passenger side and the ****** thing doesnt have a remote. And I thought I was doing grandad a favour! Sam
