does it HAVE to be an iPod?
if you just want an mp3 player, to use as you would use a walkman, then you can get them much cheaper than that!
Ive just bought a packard bell Audiokey, the 256mb one, they also do a 128mb version for about £30 less (think the 258mb one *should* be about £100 ish, i, fortunately, was sold the 256mb version for the price of the 128mb, because dixons staff dont know what they are doing!)
Unless you want to use an mp3 player as storage for transporting HUGE files between computers that are not networked, i really cannot see why you will need 15gb at all.
the one ive got has a shuffle function, and probably the only tiny things i dont like, are that the headphones it comes with are too big for my ears (used to that anyway) and the lcd display is not backlit. However, im used to buying better headphones, and since i dont intend to stare at teh screen for hours and hours, i am really not bothered!
Because it has a shuffle function, you dont get the same tracks in the same order, meaning its not actually annoying hearing the same songs again and again, which so far i havent actually done, since with 256mb, i can store enough music (8 hours of wma files or 4 hours of mp3 files) to last me anywhere im going!
Dont be conned into spending vast quantities of money JUST because its an iPod, they are no better, apart from huge amounts of space, than any other mp3 player, just come with an 'image' which is what you are paying for.
Surprise your parents, go for the more understated audiokey, with its smaller price tag, and you might be able to spend the change on summat else!!!!!!!!!! (not that long since i was conning parents into buying me stuff!)
HTH,
