We have a male and female Goldie (Both health checked and good specimens).  We have bred our bitch before and this time would like to use our own dog he is 2yrs old and inexperienced.  Should he do what comes naturally or not?

I'm assuming your dog's pedigree is a suitable match for your bitch (not too closely related, not too distant) as well as being a suitable specimen. You may well find though that he is unwilling to mate her, having lived with her for (I'm guessing) since he was a pup. The best thing to do is separate them as soon as she comes into season (that should make him keener) and not introduce them again till the right day for mating, and separate them again afterwards till her season is over.

However, having done it at one season he will be keen to repeat the performance at every season after that, and you may find that your lives are turned upside down.

Are they suitable bred lines, unless you bought in the dog with a view to using him on your bitch I would doubt it. And what do you mean by (Both health checked and good specimens).  What were the results of the tests and how do you know they are quality specimens, even if they are, do they complement each other. Please join and explain what you mean and we may be able to suggest your best course of action.
