Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Should I change to 2 meals early?

My 5 month old gsd, Sasha, has always been a bit of a picky eater but has now decided that she doesn't want to eat her lunch time feed at all.  She has to be persuaded to eat any of her meals at the best of times (by me giving her a few bits of her food from my hand), but completely refuses to eat any meal between her morning and night feeds.  I had her weighed yesterday at the vets, and she weighs 16kg - she does look a bit thin, but then again I'm used to goldies, who eat anything that gets in their way!!
She's on Arden Grange graduate (the one with the chicken in it, as opposed to the chicken meal).  Can anyone tell me if she is an ok weight for her age and if it would be ok to drop her to 2 meals a day now, rather than wait until she's 6 months?

Hi, I would say if she's not interested in it, she knows best!

I would drop to the two feeds if that is what she wants (my current pup went down to 2 meals at 4 months, but that is because she was fionding a third of ther daily ffood too little in one go, and was trying to raid the others dishes :D).

Her Grandmother was a picky cow, and I had her on Arden Grange Prestige, until 2 years old as she was practically anorexic, and this was the only food she would eat with any regularity.  I have always given this to my pups. It actually has more meat in than the Graduate, Total chicken in Graduate (including egg) is 46%, and in the Prestige it is 54%.  The protein in Prestige is 30% and Fat is 21%, compared to 29%, and 18% in Graduate.

As shepherds can be prone to malabsorption the higher the quality of the Protein and fat the easier ti is to assimilate (animal protein is better than vegetable in this regard for carnivores).

Thanks for the advice - I'll give 2 meals a try and have a word with our local AG supplier, to see if he could get me the prestige.  These dogs get more care than the kids :D
