The last two nights someone has done a huge pee in the house, this is extremely unusual as I have a dog door and the dogs are very clean. It could only really be one of two dogs - Xylo, 6 year old silken windhound or Luna - 8 year old lurcher.
Luna does suffer separation anxiety and doesn't like going out in the dark but she hasn't had an accident overnight before. Xylo can't use the dog door, so if he needed he may just have to do it... but I think he would whine and I would have heard him.
I was leaning towards Luna being the culprit, she's a typical ditzy, nervy saluki type and is only here when her Mum is working, if she got a fright in the garden she may not go back out again but now I'm not sure.
Xylo often refuses to go out and can easily wait 10 hours or more for the loo (especially if its raining outside!) but he asked to go out twice before his walk today and on his walk peed more than usual (I think). I've noticed the water bowls were going down more than usual this weekend but with 5 dogs here it's hard to know who is drinking more. So I collected a pee sample from Xylo and it's clear, it seems he is possibly drinking and peeing more.
I've used my vets online service to make an appointment for him tomorrow afternoon, and I'll take a urine sample with me, any thoughts on what it might be?
I am of course considering kidney failure, diabetes, tumours and other awfulness... whilst also reminding myself that I don't know for sure that he even has a problem. Luna is in her own home tonight so we'll see what happens.
