Hi everyone!  You may remember a few weeks ago I posted about my bitch scratching up  since after the litter before this one and I couldn't find out why.  She has been doing it even more since this litter and I now know why!!  I got my vet to run bloods and a scan to make sure we weren't missing something, which he did.  The bloods showed slightly on the high side for a couple of things but nothing outside the "normal range".  She had her scan today and Voila!!  Reason discovered.  She has Canine endometritis...not to be confused with endometriosis.   It explains why Flossie had such difficult labours

She is being speyed in two weeks and is currently on antibiotics to ward off any infection from developing.  I found this link and thought it was well worth sharing so we can keep a check on our girls.

Hope everyone is well xx

Well done to you for knowing there was something not right with your bitch and going with your instincts, we generally know our dogs better than we think, I am looking up canine endometriosis as I wasn't aware of it

It isn't endometriosis, that is when parts of the endometrium (lining of the womb) break off and move around the body, causing really bad pain every month as it bleeds with the mentrual loss.  This is endometritis, which is inflammation of the endometrium.  It's not very common I don't think but then again, if it's not common knowledge or our bitches don't suffer very much or we just put it down to nothing much, it could be very common.  Apparently, it worsens with each pregnancy which would explain Flossies long and hard labours.
I have put a link to an article in my post if you want to search the condition.

I'm just really glad I now know what is wrong and it will get fixed.
