Must admit, I love a good coincidence. A few years ago I seemed to have a year of coincidences, two that stood out still make me smile.
We were having a holiday on a campsite near Newport in South Wales. We fancied lunch out so we randomly chose a pub whilst we were driving down a country lane, our criteria being it should look nice and welcoming. When we went in there was only a few people there and we fell into conversation with a man aged about 65, we were in our early 60's then. It was obvious by his accent that he wasn't a local and told us he was originally from Gloucestershire which we are from. As men do, my OH and he started talking about pubs they knew in our home county, when this chap mentioned that he was bought up in a pub his parents used to run. I recognised the name of the pub, asked the chap his name and that was when I discovered that I had gone out with his brother in my late teens!
Second odd coincidence occurred when we were on our way to Ipswich to attend my BIL's funeral. Our daughter lives in London and she was going to meet up with her cousins at Leighton Buzzard and go with them to the funeral. About half way to Ipswich (about a five hour journey for us) FIL asked if we could stop at a cafe for a pit stop. Who should be in the cafe, but our daughter with the cousins having a break in their journey.
Since then coincidences have been rather thin on the ground.
