Hi,I have had one dog who had three big seizures at aged three...we tested her thyroid, bloods were fine...and decided that she seized because she was low sugar and very highly strung. She would get very upset and pace before thunderstorms ,go into stress mode if my hub sneezed, didnt like the wind flapping my blinds outside.  etc..
We gave Bach rescue remedy prior to a stress situation ...
We gave her honey """""".   """.     """"" """""".  """""""
We fed her more frequently, even tempting her to eat a second meal..
We eliminated all possible stimulants..eg room perfumes,rawhides..
We used ocular massage hen she was pre ictal...which stopped her going into a full fit..
And I am proud to say she never fitted again...just the pre stages, the pacing and disorientation...but we managed to divert her enough not to fit.
Bodymassage,eg tellington touch also worked to get her calmer.
hope this helps..
She has passed on now at 13, but we never gave up.epilepsy is so distressing for the owner,I believe though the dog suffers less than we do.The key is to try to find the trigger for your dog.

What tests were carried out. Also if they came back normal where did the diagnosis of mild epilepsy come from.

If several fits occur and blood tests are normal then a diagnosis of epilepsy is standard.

Labelling a dog who has had three seizures with the tag of being epileptic just seems a bit extreme.

One of my dogs had a seizure when she was 5 years. The vet said that epilepsy peaked at around five to six years and then tailed off, so with any luck she wouldn't have another one. She never did.
Don't know if that is still the thought with epilepsy, it was about twenty years ago.

Celtic lad....my dog had three ,3 to 5 minute long Grand mal seizures...what would you call it?
we didn't put her on seizure meds as the attacks, although severe, were spaced out over a few months...as I said we used Bach remedies and other methods without  resorting to phenobarbital etc.epilepsy has many forms, and different causes.Even fly biting in some breeds is a mild form of epilepsy....it's just a name,it's the severity and frequency of the symptoms that enable  a definitive label to be put on the condition.
