Did the stud dog owner sign the KC Litter Registration document at the time of mating? If not, I think that you should register YOUR puppies online. If they dispute, I would rather pay for DNA testing than let someone screw me.
They are not the stud dog owners puppies to sell. I can't believe that a so called friend asked what they would get out of it! If any dispute causes you to lose a friend, it doesn't sound to me that this is someone that I would want as a friend. You say that you paid the stud fee first time around. Then a small fee on return. Which most people would have refused.
You ask for suggestions. If it was me, there would be no puppy available, I wouldn't even want to find out who the so called friend is that wants one. And there would definitely NOT be any return visit to view the litter - whether the stud owner takes umbrage or not. You owe them nothing. And, if she disputed that I would ask to see the proof of a promise that they are to have a pup. They would not get any pup out of me, at any price.
