A woman called and wants to bring her CKCS to eye testing. I told her would need to bring her KC reg, and she told me she has not got that, I asked if the breeder of her bitch had it. She told me the breeders dogs were not registered either, and she is planning on breeding from this bitch and registering the puppies with the Dog Lovers Register instead. So she will be bringing with her the dogs pedigree, and details of it's microchip number.
Does this dog go through the BVA scheme which I thought was for KC/ISDS registered dogs only? Or does she get charged the same fees but not go through the BVA test? If she doesn't go through the BVA test should she given anything to say her dog has been eye tested?
Also thinking ahead to 2010, what happens if a dog comes to eye testing and for whatever reason the scanners cannot find the microchip or read it? Should the dog be turned away? Should we still test the dog and with hold the certificate? Or suppose the dog is tattooed but we cannot read the tattoo? Should this dog be turned away? Should a certificate be completed but with held?
