When you buy a puppy you should receive a registration certificate and a pedigree. the pedigree can be hand written using a proforma, printed if the breeder has a computer, or produced by the Kennel club for a fee (which the breeder should pay) and then passed onto you. Our breed club require breeders to give a five generation pedigree with pups.
I have always done my own as I like to put hip scores on mien and the KC only include that of the parents on reg form, and do not include foreign results.
Also I begrudge paying the KC for a coloured one when I can do just as well myself.
I wish our KC would do what they do in FCI countries and have the pedigree printed on the Registration document usually four generations as they have the parent listed at the top so the bottom half starts with grandparents.
Our reg forms have acres of blank space that could be used and also use a clearer bolder font. Seems they want to charge for registration, then transfer and pedigrees on top.
