Polar Express is one of my favs along with Miracle on 34th Street, Santa Clause I/II/III, Muppets Christmas Carol............

I could go on!!  From 1st December we start watching them as a family, usually with popcorn etc!!  I must admit though that I wasnt overly keen on Elf (watched it last night - sky +!), my OH however loved it and was in stitches throughout!!
- By STARRYEYES Date 16.12.08 10:04 UTC
dont get me wrong I  love all the films you mention but some of them make me feel a bit teary....whereas the elf just had me in stitches ...maybe its my sense of humour!! :)

Christmas Vacation!!!!! :) Never ceases to be funny year after year.
- By ceejay Date 16.12.08 11:02 UTC
White Christmas!  It used to be on every year just before Christmas and I always felt more Christmassy after watching it.  Then Carols from Kings on Christmas Eve - not a film I know but it used to be my routine.   I also love The Snowman.
- By STARRYEYES Date 16.12.08 11:03 UTC
oh yes its on on Christmas Morning so will have to record it.
- By philly256 [gb] Date 16.12.08 11:04 UTC
I like the  first 2 Home Alone movies...especially the first one.
My fav bit is the choir in the church singing O holy night while Kevin talks to the man from his street.
He was so cute in those days Macauley Culken....what happened?
- By gembo [gb] Date 16.12.08 11:25 UTC
This might sound a bit weird cos I guess it's not a traditional Xmas film but I love Love Actually & I will deinfitely be watching (for the millionth time) over the holidays! Love the Bill Nighy song..

I recently went to see Four Christmases & can recommend that, very good & a great laugh.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 16.12.08 12:02 UTC
Alltime Christmas favourite has got to be 'It's a Wonderful Life'. I weep buckets at the end - brilliant!
- By Teri Date 16.12.08 12:05 UTC
Can't remember the name of the film but it's an old black and white one with Carry Grant - he's an angel in it ....  Used to love watching it with my mum :)  The oldies are the goodies at Christmas for me.

Aw, fond memories of Christmas past - a bit teary now!
- By sandra762 Date 16.12.08 12:13 UTC
Love all the old Christmas movies - favourite has to be 'Meet me in St Louis' when Judy Garland sings 'have yourself a merry little Christmas' - gets me everytime! :)

Aw, fond memories of Christmas past - a bit teary now!   I am the same. The old films take you back.

Love Actually..I love the end bit where everyone is arriving at the airport..people watching at the airport is brilliant all that love and emotion. You suddenly see a face light up and I look to try and spot the responding smile. I almost missed my son when he came in from America because of this ;-)

White Christmas so cheesy but great. Not christmassy at all but Sound of Music and Mary Poppins get an airing as well!

Elf was mint, i always love that film, always sooo funny!! Love the Santa Claus films!! And i HATE muppets, but LOVE the muppets christmas carol!!! Where that funny sock thing climbs those gates and says "got bless my broken little body, arghhh" and jumps!! When he could just walk through the bars!!! Makes me laugh, my faveee bit that!!!
- By Crespin Date 16.12.08 14:00 UTC
Loved Elf, but only seen it the once, didnt get a chance to watch it on City TV this weekend.

Home Alone, but it was only because I have a horrid sense of humour, and laughed when he was trying to outsmart the villians, and they got hurt.  I know, I am sick LMAO

And the cartoon movie, Rodoulph the Red Nosed Reindeer.  Rodoulph runs away, because he is embarassed by his shiny nose, and then runs into the Embomidable (sp?) snowman, who has a toothache, and the misfit elf pulls the tooth, and the snowman puts the star on the top of the tree because no one else can reach it.  AWWW, makes me want to watch cartoons now.

And I still love watching Santa Calls, which is on a local tv station, where kids call in and talk to Santa.  I dont know why, but it makes me feel more Christmassy.  I love it!!!!
- By HuskyGal Date 16.12.08 14:13 UTC
Big fan of Aaardman Animation's Robbie the Reindeer :-D

Elf is fab - we watched it again just brill :)  had me and the girls in stitches too!  We were all so excited when we saw it was coming on!

Love the Santa Claus too.

Miracle on 34th Street - on sky plus ready to watch when we 'start Xmas'!

Watched Deck the Halls the other night - that's not bad either - good family feeling at the end!
- By suejaw Date 16.12.08 16:10 UTC
Not seen Elf, but from the raves here its going to have to be watched this Xmas. Also missed Bad Santa the other day which has some good reviews.

I do enjoy Love Actually, more so any time of the year. I recall when i returned from travelling and Heathrow was exactly like it is in the movie. Never experienced that again when flying back home.

Miracle on 34th Street, its what dreams are made of..
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 16.12.08 16:40 UTC

> Big fan of Aaardman Animation's Robbie the Reindeer :-D

We've watched Robbie every christmas since it was released - excellent

I also love It's a Wonderful Life and watch it on my own on the last day of school term - it's my bit of personal peace and quiet before the kids break up...

Based on the recommendations here I've just ordered The Bishops Wife - I don't remember ever seeing this one which I'm a bit surprised about, perhaps I just forgot?

Suddenly I'm feeling nostalgic and fancy some chocolate - how did that happen?! :)
