I have a 15m old BC who is 90% of the time really gentle, and well behaved.
He has lead manners, can do some tricks, and we're working towards Pre-beginner obedience (he's my first performance dog, so we're getting there slowly)
I have requested an info pack, but I am worried, as he can jump up and be rough when greeting people. It's usually people he knows, as he seems to save the violent, happy welcomes for his favourite people.. Mostly, with people he doesn't know he'll sit, or push himself flat up against them to be petted. He particularly does this if they are sitting down. Occasionally he'll launch himself at them for hugs (He has this odd habit where he holds on tight to be hugged. Its not a mounting thing, as his siblings have been known to do it too) He's never jumped up at children - he only ever pushes himself flat against them to be petted.
Does he sound like potential PAT dog material?

my dog works as a therapet and is totally different around the people she visits (physically and mentally disabled) than she is in the community. When she does a visit she appears to know why she is there and sits at peoples chairs and never jumps up but if a member of staff comes across to her and goes for a hug she will put her paws up so the staff member can give her a cozy!
Missy is far from flawless over food but I always request that people don't give her food. There were 2 residents sharing a bag of quavers on sunday and she had a sniff but didn't attempt to take the food, I was so proud as in the house she wouldn't think twice about helping herself off a plate - the dirty wee midden. lol
get your dog assessed as you may be surprised at how well he does.
