I was looking on Ebay last night.  I did see the pro-fleece on there and thought it looked great!  Would you suggest buying a roll or the pieces? I am thinking more of a few pieces at the mo, but I would require a different size than offered :(

A  60"x 40" piece cut in half, to give 2 of 30"x 40" is a useful size, this is the size I use in my dog beds, car etc. Fits in the washing machine nicely too!

That is interesting- I haven't bought any recently. Do you mean the backing or the fleece? I remember some years ago, having one batch with very stiff backing and then the next lot was ok.

It was like it had been over heated back was harder and fur was harder and not as soft..  I let them know and they sent a replacement but they a couple months later I ordered another bit and it was the same.

I do generally like it but would like it nice and soft first delivery :-)

I bought a roll from profleece a few of years ago(enough to carpet my house lol!*rolls eyes*), it was a little stiff to begin with but softened after a few 40c washes.
The pieces from that roll are still going strong as 'regular' bedding for the adults.
I bought a smaller amount of fleece(not profleece) off of ebay and dispite claims from the seller that it was of equal quality to profleece, it most definately wasnt! The backing was thinner, didnt wash as well, wasnt as dense. Thankfully I only had a singleton pup to use it on, I'll be ordering more from profleece for the next litter.
So be careful what you buy off of ebay!
Also make sure when buying smaller pieces or pieces to cut up, that you will have large enough bits to cover the floor of your whelping box with no gaps. Bare in mind the need to avoid waste too, so you dont end up with annoying scrappy bitty bits :-D

Looking at the Profleece on Ebay and the sizes offered I am unsure what size to go for (wally I know).  My whelping box is 30" x 30".  Shame they don't do that exact size as my cutting skills aren't up to much!

160cm wide is about 63" so that would cut nicely in half to make 2 bits to fit your whelping bed.
30" is just over 76cm so if you can buy 3/4 of a metre you will have 2 nice pieces or 1.5m for 4.

I have bought it direct for abot 10 years.. have hundreds of the stuff just hope that it is OK for you.   May have just been my bad luck to get 2 different batches that were hard. My old stuff is fine though.

I got a huge roll from profleece about 8years ago & it is still going strong for the car & whelping box. I have since had several bits with the non slip rubber back that is brilliant for the kitchen floor it was really soft, so I decided to get a roll which came from Bronteglen to split with my friend, I have been very dissapointed with it the backing is very hard & the fleece is coarse so most of it has been consigned to the garage floor. I will be going back to profleece for my next purchase.

I always buy the no-slip backing, never had any problems with it and over the years we've had quite a few deliveries.  I find the hard backed vet bedding slips in the whelping box.

Sorry you bring this up again, but was just wondering - is it best to wash the bedding before first use - I am thinking that I should.

Yes I always wash it.  I would espeically if new pups.  It sometimes still has a chemical smell to it .

The washing also brings off any excess/unattached fluff which I think is safer but make sure you wipe your machine out afterwards!  I give my vet beds a shake and bit of a light brush whilst damp so that any loose hair or fluff comes off more easily and doesn't float off round the house - mind you my pup still spent much of his early days with a green fluff beard and paws!!

I wash it to but remember you may need to cut it to fit into your washer!

If it's a very large piece that you don't want to cut - just sling it in the bath and 'tread' it, or even hose it off in the garden.  It will drip dry very quickly

You can buy 60 x 40 or smaller pieces from Denvic..

I always wash it first - putting it through the tumble dryer will also remove more fluff (and dog hair too from used bedding)

Just about to order some now, is the Pro Fleece definitely cheaper direct, than on Ebay, just looking for the best deal.

Seems that the Pro Fleece is more popular than Vet Bed.

WiltshireOne's bedding is nearly new and relatively untested yet (pups are still very new), where as many have posted that their Profleece has lasted for years ......

Another vote for Profleece here. :-)

I get through alot (not for dogs) and wouldn't buy anything else.
I've never had a hard roll.
