I was in Westfield Derby yesterday & there was up to 70% off everything & there were signs saying stock liquidation & store closing so I assumed they were in trouble.
- By gembo [gb] Date 11.12.08 18:39 UTC
Pier website confirms they have gone into administration.
- By Stormy84 [gb] Date 11.12.08 18:40 UTC
Highlight: Not just of this year, but of my entire life- getting my Weim pup Storm :-)
Lowlight: Right now, messy break up, fights over money, stress and hassle- but it will all be worth it when the pup and I are sunning ourselves in Australia.

- By tooolz Date 12.12.08 14:15 UTC
Highlights of 2008 - A year where all my family and friends are well (including my very elderly Mum), my Hubby's promotion and the success of my two lovely puppies. All my dog's health tests this year were just what I hoped for and my oldies are tip-top. A good year so far.

One big downer has been seeing the country slip into recession with it's effects on our local tradespeople and community.
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 12.12.08 14:21 UTC
highlight - winning BIS at the breeds Championship show in June :-)

lowlight - not having any money to spend this christmas :-(

Highlights: Loving my Husband even more this year and having my baby boy to walk my bad days away. getting a new wedding ring to replace the one I lost :-) Coming to terms with being a curvy but healthy chicki ;-D x

Lowlights: I can't say I have had any lowlights that we can't try to have a positive spin on, I am just glad we are alive, have each other and are skint but just keeping our head above water. I am glad we still have the oldies with us, have good friends and can laugh everyday at silly things that others find daft, I am glad that we both still have our jobs and earn a good salary. I feel lucky when I see and hear how other people are worse off and thank God everyday for all the things I took for granted before. My wish for 2008 going into 2009 is that my results from my latest biopsies are clear and I will be yipeeeing for Scotland.

I can't think of highlights in 2008. A year I've hated and will be remembered by me only for the loss of my wonderful Dad in October.
I hope 2009 is happier for everybody, but I know my Mum will never be happy again really.

Blimey - don't I sound miserable ?!. I try not to be - but this first Christmas is proving very difficult. I know many of you understand how I feel and I'm sure it will ease with time.

I do wish all of you a wonderful Christmas though and I hope 2009 brings all the things you dream of.
- By sandra [gb] Date 13.12.08 22:03 UTC
Arched you are not miserable at all but mourning the loss of your wonderful Dad and feeling sad at your Mum's heartache in losing her soulmate. At Christmas it will be so hard but remember your Dad and what he loved at this special time of year and although it will be raw to think about those memories it will be good to remember him and talk about him and how fantastic he was.

Our thoughts will be with you at Christmas.

Arched, trust me it gets easier.  1997 was the worst year of my life, at 12 I lost my dad.  Now, years later, we all talk about him, laugh histerically at things he would have laughed at, and better still we are getting on with living good lives - which is the best tribute you can give a dad and husband.

Hoping 2009 is a good year for everyone!
- By arched [gb] Date 14.12.08 18:45 UTC
Thank you for such kind words. I'm sure we'll be ok - I am being very strong for Mum, I have to be. Bless her, they were together 60 years, married for 58 and she is so sad. We appreciate he had a long and very happy life and we are very grateful for that. We were all very lucky.

Highlight for me - meeting (well, getting to know anyhoo) my OH.

Lowlight - well, just about everything else!!  Seriously, very bad year.  Gotten into horrendous debt to the tune of £15K (and that's without the £9.5k student loan), depression, car problems to the tune of £1600, so on and so forth.  Now in the run-up to crimbo, facing possible loss of job with nothing to fall back on, and ongoing inflammation in rib cage, gastritis, acid reflux and IBS.

Roll on 2009!!!  Can't be any worse than this year :-P

Hi lights, a full year with our two dogs, got to be the best. An achievement I went on a beach holiday and learned to snorkel - as a water scardy thats a big one. Knowing Im still v.happy with my OH after 18 years and I still fancy him.

Low bits, works diffecult due to the recesssion, eldest son breaking up with OH after three years. Youngest son not home again this christmas. OH depressed and working far too hard I worry about him.

But all in all v. grateful for my family, my friends and my beloved dogs, Ive made friends because of the dogs as well and Im slimmer than I was and much healthier due to all that walking. Roll on 2009 and Best wishes to all of you.
