Hi

I was wondering if anyone has experienced their Bitch with a red almost just like a season discharge 10 days after giving birth?, and if so how long did it go on for?  It is defiantly red not green or brow/black and its not smelly and she seems very happy and well in herself.  Our vet suggested if not cleared up in couple more days a course of antibiotics but don't want her to have them just for the sake of it if its likely to clear up soon anyway.  Many Thanks

As in human mothers, this discharge (known as lochia in people) can go on for several weeks, and is considered quite normal as long as it doesn't smell offensive and the bitch has no symptoms of being unwell.

no its normal as long at its not smelly or horrid....ours still has it 4 weeks post.

Mine still has a slight discharge and its 3wks since she had the pup.

Truffles had a thick red discharge that was alot like a season, it did however get alot thicker on day 9 after whelping and truffles began to act strange, she was trying to hide behind the sofa and was digging the bedding up alot. She didnt seem herself and when we took her to the vet they said she had an infection. I would keep a close eye for any abnormal behaviour just incase. Truffles discharge didnt smell bad until the day we took her to the vet, it seemed to change very quickly. she had the antibiotics for 5 days and it cleared up very quickly, she doesnt have any discharge anymore and seems alot happier. Hope everything goes alright :)
