I have 2 huge wooly mammoth Angora rabbits, I used to take them to the grooming parlour every 3 months for a shear, but the woman has left, so now I need to do them, can anyone tell me of any kind of electric trimmer which can make a quick job of them, their wool is mega thick but very soft, and you just have to look at them and they mat!!!
Last time I tried to shear them, it took me 45 minutes to do one rabbit, and I didnt even manage the whole coat, and my arms were aching!!
Anyone out there got this kind of bunny?

You have to be careful with electric triimmers as rabbit skin is very thin and easy to cut. I suggest (as a groomer) to first cut off roughly with a pair of scissors, brush through the remaining then shear. If you dont mind what they look like then go for the Wahl cheap pair of animal clippers using the smallest comb. Always pull the skin tight so you dont catch it though.

Hi Bec,
Their mats go right down to the skin, so I wouldnt like to take scissors to them, I have a pair of electric trimmers but they are no use as they just seem to float over the topcoat, and won't trim right down, I also can't stand the amount of wool that gets everywhere - all over my carpet, floating around in the air and all over me, including up my nose!!

I thought you were meant to brush the angora out, not cut it off??

hi i have an angora, glacy shes white and just over a year. I brush her daily with a brush (one designed for poodles) and so do not need to shave her. She is adorable and lives very happily with misty (grey dwarf lop).
