Does anyone have any idea's why my boxer (3 yrs old) is constantly scratching her ears. They smell and are always dirty with what we think must be wax. We have had her with the vets for the past year but we've got nowhere so thought someone else may have gone through a similar situation. We have to clean them every day and whilst she doesn't appose she certainly doesn't enjoy it!

thanks
Laura

Try Thornit. Lots of threads on here if you put the word into Search. Barney has been in and out of the vets with different treatments for his ears and none of them worked (he is 14 months old) and now we use thornit once a week no probs and no smelly ears either! I think you will find there are lots of posters here who use it.

Cor this is the first time I have given advice and I got it from the Champdoggers :D :D

There's nothing quite like your dog going past you and getting what whiff of dentist's waiting room

It could be her diet? My Stafford bitch (6 years old) was at the vets last Tuesday for identical problems (also itchy and sore paws?) that have been ongoing for a long time now. I have always treated her with ear cleansers and drops, homeopathy, even tried Thornit. Nothing worked long term. She is one of three, and the only one with this uncomfortable condition. They have always been fed top brands, Hills, James Welbeloved etc... I have just started, somewhat tentatively, on the BARF:confused: method of feeding? It stands for Bones and Raw Food ;)(well thats the more common one) and I am absolutely amazed:eek: at the change. No sore smelly ears, itchy paws and the three of them are reponding brilliantly to this "new food":). I cannot believe the changes myself. I will happily E-mail you some of the stuff people kindly sent me. Its definately worth a try!:D

If you could email me some stuff that would be great as she does have the itchy paws and like you we've had her on special diets and had tons of allergy tests done and nothing has worked, lost a bit of faith in my vets as the vets change every time we go and they don't seem to build up a relationship and fully understanding Millie's problem, my email address is lwilki210@aol.com

thanks
