As an employee of woolworths what little christmas cheer is around is missing our house completely....just wish they would tell us what was going on one way or another! Its such a shame that poor management has destroyed a well loved high street chain...it would have been our 200 year anniversary next year and now 30,000 of us are looking at xmas on the dole.

I agree sad to see a household name go in to decline like this, we have said many times over recent years they gone down hill, they just dont't sell the sort of things they used to. Hopefully they will find a buyer & turn things around, hope so for all of you working there.

I,m thinking of you Briedog and I know what you mean about bad management.
The company I work for have made so many cutbacks over the last twelve or eighteen months since new managers came in  I feel it won,t be long before we are all out on our ears, the trouble is all the people they have disposed of are the skilled workers (ours is a very specialised company) and now we are left with just the yes men and all they seem to do is hire and fire temporary staff so the few skilled workers we do have left are so frustrated they are all leaving for other jobs  thatsif they are lucky enough to find one of course
Anyone with any commonsense or experience doesn,t seem to count anymore.

My sister in law works for Woolworths :-(

Our 'Management' had a panic reaction to the credit crunch and laid off some skilled workers, bad move, we've got so much work and don't know where to turn to first. We're running the risk of not achieving delivery dates due to insufficient staff, trouble is the skills our people need take quite some time to aquire. We could be victims of our own success.

Sorry to hear this Nikki.  You and your family have been through such a lot already over the last few years.
