Just a quick question

There is a limit show in my area that they have every year with two judges , one does all the classes of gundogs , hounds, pastoral import and some av classes, then BIS the other other does working, toy , terrier , utility and other av classes and BPIS.
My question is do you have to be CC judge to judge this , i thought that you did , but last year one of the people judging has only ever been in one breed for 5 years and is not on any list ( i know her personally ).
I had a good read of the rules and regs but cannot find anything about this.

No you do not have to award CC's to judge a limited show.  Sorry that sounds a rather curt reply which was not the intention.

You don't even have to have ever owned a dog or shown a dog to judge @ Limited Shows ;-)

So to judge AV and award BIS at a limit show you do not to give CC's ?

Nope, anyone can judge a Limited Show just as anyone can judge a Companion Show. They are actually good shows to start judging at as if you make a mistake the wins don't count for anything. Good place to start puppies/inexperienced dogs at as well as they are much more relaxed than Open or Ch Shows

Just to echo what MM is saying as a secretary I try to find a well qualified judge with good allround knowledge of all the groups to judge our limit shows however there are no official requirements at all.

As far as the Rules go, nor do you need experience to judge breed at Open Shows, only for A.V's & groups etc.
I just know someone is going to say that it's obvious from some Open Show judging! (But I would not dream of saying so.)

They have to be experienced and on the breed judging list though if they are going to do more than 3 classes at an open show!  Being an importer of a breed and watching it grow for 16 years doesn't count.
