Ruth went out - all down to public vote - no sing off or judges vote this week

how come ?

Apparently it's to prevent tactical voting by the judges so close to the finals.  There is a chance that the contestants wouldn't get a 'fair' hearing although presumably some of the GP are influenced by what the judges say so I expect it's not quite as 'fair' as one might hope...

Oh well thats Diana gone down with the ship :-)

> Oh well thats Diana gone down with the ship :-)

LOL!

I'm not surprised, I couldn't understand a word she was saying and to top it all singing a dreary Dido song.
- By WestCoast Date 06.12.08 22:17 UTC
I thought that the two youngsters sang better this week than they'd done since their auditions! :(  Didn't like Diana's Dido song but that was after the judging. :(
Alexander was exceptional last week but just OK this week, and the boy band ...........
A very strange week. :(

Oh well thats Diana gone down with the ship

Diana was my favourite originally, she had such a good and unusual sound, looks good too.
After her illness she never regained that 'magic' it was lost with the voice I think.  Sounds good on the record so will make a good recording artist but does she have the x factor - I think not!

I actually voted for Alex tonight, I never ever vote but I thought she deserved to get through, even the little Irish chap looked good tonight!

so the answer who lost or won the x factor tonight is:

I DON'T KNOW :)
- By sandrah Date 06.12.08 22:28 UTC
I think it was absolutely the right decision tonight.

It is going to be a very close call in the final.

Best show yet with Il Divo on too. :)
- By Pinky Date 06.12.08 22:37 UTC
Titanic I'd say :(
Strangely, she probably has a career waiting for her, think Gary Barlow and 'if Simon doesn't sign you I will'.

Blubsville when they announced the results and Ooghan's reaction.

Glad JLS got through and Alexandra even though she is more of what the music industry has at the moment.

Next week will be tight, I reckon Ooghan will go although I think Simon will stand by his man as he has an eye for youth, the music of today and he knows what sells whether it be good or bad.

Now where did I put my AC DC cd a bit of Black Ice that's what i need :)
- By Carrington Date 06.12.08 22:41 UTC
My boys both voted for JLS tonight and I did an Alex vote, first votes all series, but they both had to get through.

I did adore Diana to start with she was so fresh and unique, but since her throat infection she just never came back for me.

Still don't like Eoghan, that was a first wasn't it, seeing him cling to Diana, me thinks he definitely has a crush on her, (No! :-D he's got competition my youngest also has a crush on her) I wonder if she was a little gutted that she did not get to finish her song and had Eoghan throwing himself all over her. :-D Get the boy a tissue. Did anyone see Harry Hills impression of him? We were just curled up laughing.

Alex to win! :-)
- By ottoman Date 06.12.08 22:55 UTC
Alex and JLS were brilliant tonight. Alex is a class above all the others, she can do it all. Love JLS, thought they did their best performances tonight. Would have prefered Eoghin to go out I don't rate him at all. Alex or jls to win for me
- By Pinky Date 06.12.08 23:02 UTC
You know something sad, I didn't vote and the last and only time I did was for Will Young, now that's a voice.
- By WestCoast Date 06.12.08 23:09 UTC
Very interesting that we all hear/see performances so differently. :)
I think that whoever was doing the sound this week wants firing! :)
- By Pinky Date 06.12.08 23:21 UTC

> WestCoast Very interesting that we all hear/see performances so differently.

And isn't is good that we do, the world would be a boring place if we all heard and saw the same thing.

I have to admit that at times the 'mixing' left a lot to be desired.
- By lumphy [gb] Date 06.12.08 23:46 UTC
I agree,  Every one thinks Alex is so good. In our house we cant stand her. Dont know what it is about her but she brings out the urge to slap her. Dont like her voice much either and now we start to listen to her sing and then forward through it as we are board.

I suppose out of them all the group are the best but not impressed this year at all.
- By briedog [gb] Date 07.12.08 00:07 UTC
jls to win
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 07.12.08 00:56 UTC
I'm sorry but Diana's voice was the same before her illness.  I think the quirkiness of her voice and silly puppet hands just started getting on most of our nerves by the end!  I think Alex should win.  Why JLS have the lead singer that they do I don't know, cute boy but his voice just hasn't got it.

Eoghan third, JLS second and Alex SHOULD BE the winner, but hey who knows.
- By briedog [gb] Date 07.12.08 08:47 UTC
she should have sang puppet on a string with those hands all over the place and no shoes on to bounce long to the song
- By Snoop Date 07.12.08 09:03 UTC
I'm glad she's gone. I didn't like her voice or her 'quirkiness'.

As for Eoghan....cringeville! Get a grip lad! I know it's an emotional time, and he is only young, but purrrlease! He ruined Diana's final song and made her last show more about him than her. Hopefully it will put off all the youngsters who must be voting for him.
- By Astarte Date 07.12.08 10:00 UTC

> Hopefully it will put off all the youngsters who must be voting for him

i doubt its the youngsters voting for him- he's to sweet and cute for teenage girls (sweet is not cool!) and i doubt you'd find a teenage guy voting for him. its the grannies- "aww he's so cute, and his new wee sister..."

think both he and diana were really annoying
- By Paula20380 [gb] Date 07.12.08 10:07 UTC

I agree she just doesn't impress me at all.

She reminds me of ME at her age!  Makes everything understandable, doesn't it? :) :) :)
- By HuskyGal Date 07.12.08 10:55 UTC
 I was convinced from the get go it would be an all girl final.. still gobsmacked it wasn't.
The person who really deserves to be trounced out is that awful voice coach!! We approach the finals and Diana,Alex and Aston have all 'lost' their voices. I don't think there's any doubt that one voice on that show has been ruined and another is hanging on by a thread. She should be ashamed! but then any decent vocal coach would probably refuse to do what is execpted in the time frame :(
Its really annoyed me this series It was painfully obvious the key and range that were chosen for Diana and her inability to adapt in the first weeks were going to seriously put strain on her vocal chords and hey presto it does. She's a 17 year old (and very much still a child than a woman) she's broken down in tears every episode (behind camera) and I cant believe that those that voiced concern about last years winner and his strenght of character to deal with the 'fame' seem to be championing yet another rabbit in the headlights!
I hope Diana leaves it a couple of years and then goes on to have huge success, both her and Ruth I hope go on to do a 'Will Young'
Can anyone confirm..Is Alex's Mum the singer from soulIIsoul? (they have different surnames)
- By Snoop Date 07.12.08 10:56 UTC

:-D Maybe you're right. Thinking back I don't think he would have impressed me much as a teen. Like you say, too cutesy and definitely NOT cool.
- By lunamoona [gb] Date 07.12.08 11:10 UTC

>He ruined Diana's final song and made her last show more about him than her.

Me and my hubby were laughing so much we had tears in our eyes, he's really got it bad for her, bless.  Lucky Alex and JLS came out too to rescue him from that cringeworthy display of devotion.  Poor Diana lost her final moment and looked so embarressed.  I just hope that it doesn't make all her fans vote for him now, with a bit of luck he'll be so lovestruck that he'll be off his game for the final.

I still want Alex to win but have been really impressed with JLS the last couple of weeks.  I didn't rate them at all for the first half of the live shows as they were often un-coordinated, out of tune and just weak in general but boy have they improved and are still continuing to improve.  It's really nice to see a bunch of guys who work together so well, with no arrogance or rivalry.

Can't wait till next week!

> I didn't vote and the last and only time I did was for Will Young, now that's a voice. <

That is the only time I have ever voted on one of these programs too and I watch all of them.
- By Harley Date 07.12.08 12:02 UTC
HG - I am actually pleased that Diana didn't get through for her sake. IMO she is not yet emotionally mature enough to deal with the pressure she has encountered so far and to be the winner of X Factor would increase that pressure to the point where she crumbled, yet another youngster falling prey to the showbiz world.
- By ottoman Date 07.12.08 12:48 UTC

> Can anyone confirm..Is Alex's Mum the singer from soulIIsoul? (they have different surnames)

Alex's mum did sing with soul to soul but was not karen wheeler, the main singer ( I think that was her name)
- By tina s [gb] Date 07.12.08 12:50 UTC
i dont think owen had a crush on her, he was just behaving like a baby missing his mum! he is only 16, simon needs to slap him and say for god sake grow up!
- By goldie [gb] Date 07.12.08 12:55 UTC
Agree with you Harley.

I missed Ruth last night, she was my favorite.
- By Stormy84 [gb] Date 07.12.08 13:26 UTC
Did anyone else hear Eoghan and Diana were a couple? Or has that been dispelled as a myth already?
- By philly256 [gb] Date 07.12.08 14:24 UTC
I am really sad dianas gone she was my fav from the word go because her voice was kinda like Dolores O Rriordan of the Cranberries and I loved them.
I hope she leaves it a while too and then has massive success.

The others apart for alex were rubbish last night imo...Eoghan doing abba !!!!!!what was that all about. It may be his fav tune but he ruined it imo.

JLS were off key in their first song although their second was much better.

If theres any justice the reall talent should win and  thats Alex I know there are some who hater her and say she is too big for her boots but she can certainly sing and thats what the show is about.

ALEX TO WIN
- By philly256 [gb] Date 07.12.08 14:26 UTC

> Did anyone else hear Eoghan and Diana were a couple? Or has that been dispelled as a myth already?

they are denying it publically ...but Im sure when he was huging her and saying sorry to her Im sure I heard Eoghan tell Diana he loved her so much......
Make of that what you will
- By CherylS Date 07.12.08 15:03 UTC
At the beginning of the live shows Alex didn't seem to get much attention from the judges.  I've liked her from the start and I think the difference between her and Diana is that Alex has progressed so much in her performances whereas Diana is much the same as she was at the beginning.

I sometimes close my eyes (only for seconds though) and ask myself whether or not I would bother listening to them on CD.  IMO Diana and Eoghan's voices are just not powerful enough.  Perhaps they just need a couple or so more years to mature.
- By Dakkobear [gb] Date 07.12.08 15:28 UTC
Eoghan annoys me, JLS's first song last night was terrible but the second was an improvement. Diana deserved to go, bit of a 'one trick pony' . Ruth and Alex should have been in the final but since Ruth didn't get through last week it'll need to be Alex for me.
- By Isabel Date 07.12.08 18:12 UTC

Oh that's showbiz speak surely.
- By Isabel Date 07.12.08 18:14 UTC
I don't think this will be a memorable year all round really.  Nobody looks like they are going to be world class do they.
- By Carrington Date 07.12.08 18:15 UTC
Im sure I heard Eoghan tell Diana he loved her so much......

Your right he did! :-D

However, did you hear Diana say, she is so grateful for everything, and all the people she's met, especially little Eoghan her polite way of saying he is just a kid. *wink, wink* They no doubt have become very close, living in a house together both being young, I dare say they have had their share of cuddles, but Diana is so much older in maturity than Eoghan, he really isn't even like a 16 year old IMO, he's more like a 13 year old, I'm sure she loves him too, but I would definitely say as a little brother, even though the papers have made more of it, sometimes celebs only have to hold someones hand and they are suddenly getting married. :-D
